OH MY (OBSCENE PHRASES OF WILD HAPPINESS AND DISBELIEF!!!!!

So I have a story to tell you all. It begins like this: a girl taking an art course and trying to make a series of paintings about first impressions work. She gives up on that idea and starts do self-portraits which she then sends off to the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards just to see what happens.

690 portfolios were entered into this state-wide competition. 125 portfolios were awarded a gold key and are now competing at the national level. 4 of these were awarded 1000 dollars for excellence in their own region.

So I walk into school at 9:30 for the pure purpose of eating a lot of cake from my honors art final. We're all sitting, drooling at the cakes when the phone rings. MY teacher, Ms. Leary, talks for about 5 minutes whilst we all fidget and mop up our drool. The cakes look amazing. Ms. Leary walks back in.
"I have really good news for one of you." She says, putting the phone back. "Where is Claire?"
I raise my hand, knowing full well she knows where I am.
"You just won one thousand dollars from the Boston Globe."

OH MY GOODNESS BEST DAY OF MY FREAKING LIFE MUCH?!?!?!?!!!!!!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

And my parents never thought I would make an money if I chose to be an artist. HA. Showed them! And now I've sent off one of the originals, #7 (which I'm putting up tonight), off to Boston, where it will be in an exhibit in the Transportation Building. I'm going to the awards ceremony where I'll go up on stage to receive my awards.



My life is freakin' amazing. I am a very happy person.
